el triángulo mazunte presents:
palapa sessions with jake + scarlett lindeman
a weekend of food, music & learning at our ‘barefoot luxury’ accommodations in Mazunte, Oaxaca
we invite you to come and enjoy the quintessential, coastal, Oaxacan “pueblo magico” mazunte, amidst the “barefoot luxury” accommodations and surroundings of el triángulo mazunte.
on this weekend, jake + scarlett lindeman (cicatriz, CDMX) will be your culinary and beverage guides, expertly taking you through flavors of the region with their own unique twist. in addition to finely crafted food and drinks, we will have a local regenerative farm tour, cooking class, mezcal tasting, all soundtracked by David Covarrubias (choza, cdmx).
Scarlett Lindeman is the chef and co-owner of Cicatriz, the popular, all-day-cafe/restaurant/bar in Colonia Juarez, Mexico City. She was also the chef at Ojo Rojo Diner, an American style diner serving the city’s best pancakes and drip coffee. Her casual, but refined, style of cooking focuses on vegetables, fermentation, and experience-driven craft. She loves to teach.
Jake Lindeman is the wine director and co-owner of Cicatriz, the eight year old restaurant in Mexico City’s Colonia Juarez and Escorpio, the city’s first all-natural wine shop. He is passionate about agave-based spirits, rum, and natural wine. He has strong convictions about sandwiches.
dinners and music will be presented nightly in the palapa.
the music will be presented by David Covarrubias (choza, cdmx) and friends on our boutique audio soundsystem.
David Covarrubias has been djing vinyl in mexico city and beyond for the past 10 years. He runs the music program at choza. Regarding his mixes, david has said:
“I want to dig into and really EXPLORE THE EXPERIMENTAL SIDE OF GROOVE SOUNDS…”
immaculate, expansive selection through left-of-center disco, psychedelic afrobeat, new wave sonidos, instrumental funk and blues and whole lot of genreless cuts that are hard to place yet infinitely groovy - no era, genre or country off limits here.
the music will include special live performances and dj sets in the palapa.

getting here
We are in Mazunte, on the coast of Oaxaca in Mexico.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ayksTVEJZF2yDfJ59
We are equidistant from airports in Puerto Escondido (pxm) and Huatulco (hux). The journey from either airport to our place is about an hour. it costs about 900-2000 mxn, depending on number of people, your willingness to walk outside the airport, and negotiation skills.
Both Puerto Escondido and Huatulco have frequent flights to and from Mexico City. Puerto Escondido has some very inexpensive, direct flights from Tijuana on Volaris, which can be a good option if you’re in Southern California. You can park or be dropped off on the US side and walk across the Cross Boarder Xpress to the airport. It’s very easy to do.
Otherwise, you’ll get yourself to Mexico City, then book a short flight down to the coast. guadalajara, dallas, and chicago also have flights to huatulco. puerto escondido does not have any international flights. Most options will show up on Kayak, Expedia, etc.. Common airlines to the coast are Volaris, Viva Aerobus, and Aero Mexico.
Driving from Mexico City takes about 9 hours; 6 hours to Oaxaca City, then another 3 hours to the coast via a new super highway.
There is also the option to take the scenic route from oaxaca, over a very windy, but beautiful mountain road. If you have the time, I highly recommend a stay up there someday. Terraza de la tierra is amazing.
